Morning Glory Transitional Home Mission Statement

 Morning Glory Transitional Home, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) Christian-based nonprofit organization that was organized in 2010 to provide Case Management and Developmental programs to assist women that are combating homelessness to become self-sufficient, financially independent, productive, independent, and positive role models within the community and obtain stable housing.

The History of Morning Glory Transitional Home Inc.

M.G.T.H Inc., was envisioned in 2008 by Mrs. Joan Kirby after Hurricane Katrina left families homeless. Mrs. Kirby opened the door to provide safe housing for many families. In 2010 Mrs. Joan Kirby founded M.G.T.H Inc which provides a specialized housing program to women combating homelessnes.

Founder/ Previous CEO Mrs. Joan Elaine Kirby

Mrs. Joan E. Kirby founded M.G.T.H Inc. after assisting families that were homeless due to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  In 2008, MGTH Inc. began assisting women who are combating homelessness. Mrs. Kirby was a retired nurse and dedicated herself to the ministry of M.G.T.H Inc. as an ordained Pastor.

Board Of Directors

Sameka Jolaine B.A, MPH - CEO/ Chairwoman (Board Member)

Ms. Sameka Jolaine  is the CEO of the organization since 2023. In her previous role, Ms. Jolaine was the Executive Director  that led the vision and implementing progressive programs for Morning Glory Transitional Home Inc. Ms. Jolaine  was an integral part to bring the vision of the Founder to develop programs, business plans, and implementing ideas. Ms. O has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Georgia State University, a Master of Public Health from Walden University, and Certified as a Business Analyst from Emory. Ms. Jolaine is employed as a Data Analysis/Data Programmer with deep experience working with the State and Local government. Ms. Jolaine is the current Chairwoman on the Board of Morning Glory Transitional Home Inc.

Teresa Beckett -  Executive Assistant (Board Member)

Ms. Teresa Beckett completed her Bachelors of Science, Information Systems-Homeland Security from Strayer University. She is also certified in IATA Temperature Control and currently is employed as an Import Account Supervisor. Ms. Beckett has been active and a board member at Morning Glory Transitional Home Inc. since 2018. Ms. Beckett works actively as the Executive Assistant to the CEO and Executive Director.

Dr. Matthew N.H Ellis - Community Engagement/ Outreach Manager (Board Member)

Dr. Ellis has been active on the  Morning Glory Transitional Home Inc team since 2010. He was instrumental in engaging the HBCU colleges of Morehouse, Spellman, and Clark Atlanta to the organization’s community events including the Feed Atlanta Project. Dr. Ellis completed his Undergraduate at Morehouse College and completed his Doctor of Medicine at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dr. Ellis is an active board member on Morning Glory Transitional Home Inc.

Employment Within 3 Months

 In 2010, one member was homeless and she was able to go back to school to increase her education. She was able to become employed within 3 months and find an apartment 6 months later. A few months later after living in her apartment and becoming stable in her new home, she united with her underage son.

 In 2011, one member never thought she would have been able to own her apartment. She utilized the program, saved her money and became stable. Nine months later she completed her program and was able to rent her own apartment.

 In 2012, one member moved from another state to Georgia hoping for a better future. When she moved here she was faced with homelessness. She enrolled herself in a C.N.A course and graduated. She obtained employment at the local hospital and two months later obtained housing in the DeKalb County area.
